Face BOX Face BOT explores the ethics of online data harvesting by software companies of our personal data in order to develop their AI systems, specifically their computer vision software.
Through this interactive installation, the viewer is invited to create abstract images of themselves through an interactive algorithm utilising computer vision.
In participating, the viewer grants access to the ultimate piece of personal information, their face.
The installation works to reveal its own mechanisms in stages, thus, it’s not until the viewer moves to the back end of the structure that it is revealed the abstract images created are now uploaded to social media, and the viewer is confronted with the true cost of their interaction.
